Donor questions

Can I get a refund?

To maximize donation integrity and transparency, each donor must specify what happens to their donation in case the project doesn’t meet its fundraising target.

Can I get a refund for my donation?

In an effort to keep project creators accountable and offer a safe and transparent donation environment, Incitement uses what we call a ‘Fair-for-all‘ funding model. Lear more about how fair-for-all funding works.

This means that if a fundraiser doesn’t meet its target, the project creator will still receive the donations they raised, unless the donor indicated otherwise.

Each donor is required to specify what happens with their donation in case the project fails to meet its fundraising target.

how to decide what happens with your donation

As a donor, you have two options:

  1. Let the charity keep your donationWhen you select this option, the charity will receive Purpose Points credited to their account equivalent your donation amount. This happens automatically when a project fails to meet its target, and you’ll be notified when this happens. The charity cannot cash out these points unless, but are required to use these Purpose Points to fund another one of their projects on Incitement. To ensure transparency to donors around what happens with their donations, charities on Incitement can only receive funds for a successfully funded project. We do this to ensure donations are spent on what they were raised for in the first place.
  2. Receive a credit refundWhen you select this option, you will receive Purpose Points credited to your account equivalent your donation amount. This happens automatically when a project fails to meet its target, and you’ll be notified when this happens. You cannot cash out these points, but you must donate your Purpose Points to another project of your choosing within one (1) year.
