How do I start a fundraiser?

This article will show you how to start a fundraiser. You must list your organisation first before you can start a fundraiser. You can read in this article how to list your organisation.


1. You can start a fundraiser from three different points:

i. On your home page, go to the ‘Your fundraisers’ section on the left, and click ‘Start fundraiser’.

ii. On the navigation bar on top, click the profile icon on the right, then ‘Your fundraisers’, and then ‘Start fundraiser’.

iii. On your charity page, navigate to the Tools section, and click ‘Start fundraiser’

2. A modal window will appear with a brief description of a fundraiser. Click ‘Next’ to continue.

3. Enter your fundraiser name, select the page your fundraiser belongs to, and click ‘Next’.

4. You will be directed to the fundraiser where there are five steps;

i. General

ii. Volunteers

iii. Funding

iv. Cover photo

v. Publish


General

  • Your fundraiser title has already been filled from the previous step along with a suggested URL slug. You can change these or proceed to fill in your fundraiser’s general information.
  • At the bottom, share a brief story on your fundraiser and include a picture, video, or link, if any, by clicking on the respective icons. Click ‘Post’, and then ‘Next’.
  • You can edit your fundraiser story post by clicking on the three dots icon on the top right corner of the post section.
  • A modal window will appear and you can edit your fundraiser’s story post.

Volunteers

  • If your fundraiser does not require volunteers, select ‘No’ and click ‘Next’. You can proceed to read the funding section of this article.
  • If your fundraiser requires volunteers, select ‘Yes’. Then click ‘Add a new role’ to add a new volunteering role.
  • A modal window will appear for you to add the description of your volunteering roles. When you are done, click ‘Save’
  • You will see your volunteering role updated. To edit or delete your volunteering role, click on the three dots icon on the top right of the volunteer role.
  • Below the volunteering roles is the volunteer post section where you share why potential volunteers should join your fundraiser. You can also include a picture by clicking on the photo icon. When you are done, click ‘Post’ and then ‘Next’.
  • You can edit your volunteer post, click on the three dots icon.
  • A modal window will appear where you can edit your post, remove your photo, and add another photo, video, or link. When you’re done, click ‘Post’.

Funding

  • If your fundraiser does not require funding, select ‘No’ and click ‘Next’. You can proceed to read the cover photo section of this article.
  • If your fundraiser requires funding, select ‘Yes’. Then enter your fundraiser costs breakdown of in the table below.  To add a new item, click ‘Add a new item’. To remove an item, click on the remove icon on the right. When you’re done, click ‘Next’.
  • If your fundraiser does not offer branding opportunities, select ‘No’ and click ‘Next’. You can proceed to read the cover photo section of this article.
  • If your fundraiser offers branding opportunities, select ‘Yes’. Then click ‘Add opportunity’.
  • A modal window will appear where you can fill in the details of the branding opportunity for potential sponsors. When you’re done, click ‘Save’.
  • Your opportunities section will be updated with your new opportunity. You can edit or delete your opportunity by clicking on the three dots icon, or  add more opportunities by clicking on ‘Add opportunity’. When you are done, click ‘Next’.

Cover photo

  • Your fundraiser will have the default cover photo. To change it, click on the cover photo and upload. Then, click ‘Next’.

Publish

  • To edit any of the information, click ‘Back’. If you are done, click ‘Publish’.
  • Your fundraiser is created, and you will be directed to your fundraiser page.
