How do I start using Incitement for my organisation?

Incitement supports grassroots projects worldwide. Not only does the platform offers various ways to raise funds for your social project; find corporate partners (CSR), raise donations from the public (crowdfunding), and tap into Incitement’s partner network of loyalty point- and cashback programs, our platform also provides a multitude of tools and features to help you recruit and manage volunteers, better managed your projects, build community, measure and report impact, and more! This article will show you how you can get started using Incitement.

Onboard your organisation in 3 steps

Fundraising on Incitement is easy. Yes, you will need to sit down and take some time to setup a few things, but once you get the hang of thing, you’ll never want to use any other platform again. There are three things you’ll need to get started; an account, a page, and a project.

1. Create an account on Incitement

  • Go to www.theincitement.com;
  • Click ‘Register’ an fill up the required details;
  • Check your email inbox for the verification email and click the link in that email;
  • Click on the top-right profile icon and then the Edit Profile button to complete your profile information;
  • You can now start posting content and connect with other members on Incitement;
  • You can edit your profile any time you like.

2. List your organisation

Once you have successfully registered your account, the next step to start using Incitement for your organisation is to list your organisation on the platform. To do this, follow the steps below.

*You should complete these steps on a desktop device (certain features are restricted on mobile devices)

i. Create a Page

  • Click on the ‘Create’ button on the top navigation and select ‘Create a page’;
  • Provide the required information by following the steps and click ‘Publish’;
  • Once you have published your page, you can click ‘Edit Page’ to insert more information about your organisation and upload a cover photo;
  • You can now start posting content;
  • You can add additional Page Administrator to allow others to manage your page;

ii. Invite your social network to follow your Page

  • Click the ‘Share’ button to share your Page on other social networks;
  • Click the ‘Share’ button to invite people you know via email.

iii. Post frequent content

  • Just like on any other social media, you’ll need to post content to engage your followers;
  • If you are looking to raise funds on Incitement, we recommend posting at least 2 updates per week on your page;
  • You can easily share any post you publish to other social networks by clicking the ‘Share’ button

iv. Get verified

3. List your project

Once you have created your Page, you can now proceed to create a Project. To do this, follow the steps below.

i. Create a Project

Before you create your project, please make sure you meet the project creator eligibility criteria, that you understand how funding works, and that you understand our fees.

  • Click on the ‘Create’ button on the top navigation and select ‘Create a project’;
  • Provide the required information by following the steps, you’ll be required to submit detailed information about the following:
    • General project details
    • Volunteer requirements (optional)
    • Funding requirements (optional)
    • Sponsor rewards
  • You can find a detailed project listing guide here to help you understand how to create a strong project listing;
  • It’s critical to provide detailed project information, especially for attracting corporate partners;
  • Incitement actively promotes project listing in its network of corporate partners, donors, and members, however ONLY if your project follows the guidelines in the project listing guide above;
  • Once you have published your project, you can click ‘Edit Project’ to edit any details you may have missed;
  • It’s important to note that, to ensure transparency to donors on Incitement, you will no longer be able to edit certain project details after you have received the first donation to your project;
  • You can now start posting content – we  recommend posting project-related progress updated at least twice a week.

ii. Share the Project in your social network

It’s important to share your project in your network of customers, donors, members, followers, volunteers, family, friends, colleagues, etc. to drive awareness to your fundraiser.

  • Click the ‘Share’ button to share your Project on other social networks;
  • Click the ‘Share’ button to invite people you know via email;

Ensure your project meets the criteria detailed in the project listing listing guide to have Incitement promote  your project listing in its network of donors and various partner networks to help you raise donations.

iii. Invite colleagues to help manage your Project

  • Just like you can add administrator for your page, you can add Project Managers for your project;
  • To do this, go to your Project and click ‘Add or remove managers’ on the bottom left of your screen.
  • You can add anyone who is following your Page as a project manager, or invite someone via email.
