Community Standards
1. Introduction
Incitement is a social media platform for the social impact & sustainability community. Every day, people use Incitement to share their views, initiatives, and progress in context of this common goal: to create societal and environmental impact around the world and create better world and a healthier planet
Our Community Standards govern your relationship with Incitement, your use of Incitement, as well as your access to our services and products. By accessing Incitement, you agree to these Community Standards. These Standards are designed to enable productive, polite discourse among people with differing interests, life experiences, and viewpoints.
As a for-purpose social media platform Incitement caters to specific audiences that we believe play a key role in bringing about positive change in the world. We also recognize how important it is for Incitement to be a place where people feel empowered to participate and communicate in this context. That’s why we take our role in keeping abuse off our service very seriously.
At the same time, we acknowledge the increasing levels of censorship in the social media landscape today, often infringing on basic constitutional rights such as freedom of speech, freedom of journalism, freedom of religion, and so forth, and acknowledge the increasing need for a social media platform that honors our constitutional rights. That’s why we take our role in respecting our basic human rights on Incitement very seriously as well.
Incitement is a place for equality and connecting people through social impact. We want brands to adopt more sustainability practices, causes to create more sustainable impact, donors to be able to support causes in innovative ways, volunteers to support their favorite causes, the world to see positive change through Incitement, and for content and conversations on the Incitement platform to revolve around this common goal.
In some cases we do allow content which would otherwise go against our Community Standards – if it is newsworthy and in the public interest. We do this only after weighing the public interest value against the risk of harm and we look to international human rights standards to make these judgments.
We care about our freedoms, equality, safety and privacy online, respect, and authenticity.
We are committed to freedom of expression, and our goals is to provide all users with a welcoming, non-political, non-religious, non-partisan network.
We prefer that removing users or content be kept to the absolute minimum. We prefer to leave decisions about what is seen and who is heard to each user. In no case will Incitement decide what content will be removed or filtered, or whose account will be removed, on the basis of the opinion expressed within the content at issue. Incitement is viewpoint-neutral in its policies.
We do not curate your feed; we do not pretend to be qualified to do so. We believe only you are qualified to curate your feed, and so we give you the tools you need to do it yourself. To that end, Incitement offers a number of features that allow you to curate your own news feed and we encourage you to use these tools whenever the content you would rather not encounter here, is not otherwise addressed by what follows.
At Incitement, we’re committed to continuous improvement toward fulfilling our mission. Accordingly, these Standards are subject to modification, unilaterally by Incitement, at any time.
Principle #1
Incitement will not knowingly allow itself to be used as a tool for crime, civil torts, or other unlawful acts. We will remove reported user content that a reasonable and objective observer would believe constitutes or evidences such activity. We may also remove users who use our platform in this way.
Sometimes the law requires us to exclude content from our platform, once it is reported to our Community Jury. Obvious examples: content posted by or on behalf of terrorist organizations, child pornography, and copyright violations.
Other times, even though the law may not require us to flag or remove reported content, or to ban a user, we may nonetheless do so, in order to prevent our services from being used by someone in the commission of a crime or civil tort, especially when these interfere with our mission of providing a welcoming, non-political, non-religious, non-partisan network. Examples include criminal solicitation, fraud, and nuisance.
Finally, while Incitement allows the posting of some “Not Safe For Work” content, we provide a double-filter system to help ensure this content is viewed neither by minors nor by those who choose not to see it.
Principle #2
Posting spam and using bots are not conducive to productive and polite discourse, nor the creation of social impact. The use of our mute and block features, by individual users, is often adequate to address problems with spam. But whenever it is not, and in the case of bots, Incitement will remove users who engage in this behavior.
Users of Incitement
Donors
Businesses, brands, companies, and other private sector entities use Incitement to create, find, and support causes, share their work and progress on sustainability and corporate responsibility, and create content to build community around what they stand for and against.
Incitement enables the private sector to allocate resources to ESG-priorities globally by providing tools and functionalities that help create more transparency, accountability, and awareness around their corporate giving.
To ensure that organizations listed on Incitement are genuine and not in violation of any laws or human rights, we have created a Pages & Projects Policy, which all organizations on Incitement must follow.
Incitement is also a place for individual contributors to make safe and transparent donations to causes they love.
Creators
Non-profits, NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), social enterprises, SPOs (Social Purpose Organizations), and other civil society groups use Incitement to build community around their causes, raise funds, recruit volunteers, and share their social impact with the world.
Incitement aims to support this group of humanitarian organizations we call ’causes’ in their fundraising, recruitment, project management, impact measurement, and overall efficiency and performance.
To ensure that causes listed on Incitement are genuine and not in violation of any laws or human rights, we have created a Pages & Projects Policy, which all causes on Incitement must follow.
Volunteers & general public
Volunteers use Incitement to find and join causes to support, share knowledge and experiences, and spend time contributing to a positive outcome of projects published by their favorite causes.
To provide a safe place for volunteers to work with causes on Incitement, we have created a Volunteer Policy which everyone who uses Incitement to volunteer must follow.
Reporting violations
Every day, people use Incitement to share their experiences, connect with friends, colleagues, and causes, and build communities around what they believe in. Incitement aims to provide a safe and transparent environment for everyone.
Our Community Standards apply to everyone, all around the world, and to all types of content. People can report potentially violating content, including Pages, Projects, Profiles, individual content, and comments by writing to support@theincitement.com
